Summer Term Week 4 11.5.20

Literacy

This week in literacy we would be reading words and sentences and matching them to the correct picture.  If you have a printer you may want to print off the larger version and spread them out over the table.  Or you may want to print off one sheet with 4 pictures and sentences.  Don't forget if you don't have a printer then have a go at reading from the screen and support you children to read and point to the correct picture.

You can also:

Read the story again

Act out the story

Sequence the story

Talk about the story

Take a look at alternative texts from last week!

Maths - Money

Show the children some coins.  What are these?  What do we use them for? Look at the names of them.  1p 2p 5p 10p 20p £1 £2 £5 £10 £20 £50

Vocabulary – coins/ notes/ pence/ money/ pay/ change/ cost/ price/ amount/ how much

1ps are counting in 1’s/ 5ps are counting in 5’s ect.

Have a go at counting in 5’s using 5p's.  How much do I have altogether?

Why not set up a shop - you can use toys and paper to put price tags on them.  Play in the shop with your child.  You can use real money, pretend money or make your own out of paper.

"I would like to buy a car, teddy and apple" – they are 1p each.  How much do I need? 1p +1p+ 1p = 3P

"I would like to buy an orange, banana and milk" - they are 5p each.  How much do I need?

5p+ 5p+ 5p = 15p

repeat with different amounts - counting in 1s 5s and 10s.
