Welcome to Class 3's Page!
Congratulations to Class 3 on their Robots film which was the KS2 winner of the CLP film festival. It's a great film using lots of different film skills. Click on the link below to watch it. We hope you enjoy it!
Our trip to St Barnabas Cathedral
Our RE topic this term is learning about churches and we were lucky to go on a class trip to visit St Barnabas Cathedral. It was very exciting and interesting because for lots of us it was the first time we had been in a church. We were shown round by a priest and learnt lots about the history of the cathedral, all the different things inside it and what happens in different areas of the church. We even went downstairs in the crypt to see where the tombs are.
Rio de Janeiro & Carnival!
For our geography topic we are learning about and comparing Nottingham, Athens and Rio de Janeiro. In Rio they love to party and their carnivals are world famous. We made carnival masks as part of our topic and wore them in the talent show when we sang a carnival song.
World Book Day
We had great fun dressing up as our favourite book characters. We made bookmarks, our own Flat Stanley figures and enjoyed reading some of the new books in our class.
Happy Mothers' Day!
CLP Nottingham Schools' Film Festival
We are very excited in Class 3 to be involved in making short films for the Nottingham Schools' Film festival. It is lots of hard work but great fun! We will showcase our work on the website when we've completed it and some films will be shown at the New Art Exchange from 20th - 24th June.
Happy New Year!
This half term our topic is 'Robots'. To start the topic we looked at what kind of learners we are and how we learn best. Some of the class have practical skills and enjoy making; some of the class are musical; some of our class are logical, mathematical learners and like to solve puzzles whilst some of the class decided they worked best with words.
We got into groups when we had decided which we liked best and were then set challenges: To create a song, rap or poem about robots; create a robot dance; create music for robots; solve robot based puzzles and create a moving robot.
We hope you enjoy looking at some of the work we produced.
Time for Big Maths!
In Big Maths this week we had to predict how long it would take to do different tasks and then time ourselves doing them. It was great fun. Some of us even predicted correctly!
We really enjoyed this half term and did lots of festive activities. Here are some photos of what we got up to!
This year's Anti-Bullying week theme is 'Make some noise about bullying'. Every class in our school wrote a poem about bullying. We wrote our own copies and decorated them. We have also made a video of us performing it - we hope you enjoy it!
Children in Need
We really enjoyed raising money for Children in Need this year. We paid to wear something different to school and entered a poetry contest.
In Science we have been learning all about rocks. To understand how different types of rocks are formed we made chocolate 'rocks'! We used melted chocolate to show how Igneous rocks are formed from magma and we made layers of grated chocolate to make Sedimentary chocolate 'rocks'.
As part of our Stone Age topic we have been looking at the art work produced by prehistoric humans. We made preparatory drawings in out new sketch books to plan our work. To make our cave art as realistic as possible the classroom was turned into caves! We had very little light, had to crawl to our paper and either lay on our tummies or backs to draw our pictures. It was rather tricky but lots of fun!
For one of our English topics we learned about poetry and how to create images in readers minds. We wrote different types of poems about animals and have created a class book. Here are a few of our poems. We hope you enjoy them!
To celebrate Queen Elizabeth II being the country's longest reigning monarch everyone in the school is making a crown to wear during our celebrations on Wednesday. It was great fun making them. We will put more pictures of our celebrations up on Wednesday.
In our Big Maths we practised adding numbers together by playing 'Tiddly Winks'. It was quite tricky but great fun!
