In Literacy we have just started a unit on performance poetry. For our first task we had to learn and perform a poem in one lesson! We hope you enjoy it.
Mixing Our Art & Geography Skills!
In Geography we have been looking at the UK, rivers and our local area. In art we looked at the work of George Seurat and how he developed a technique of painting with dots of colour. This is called pointillism. Using this technique we produced our own pointillist pictures of the River Trent.
Strange happenings in Class 3...
In Class 3 we have been reading The Boy Who Grew Dragons. We had some exotic, unusual fruits in class to draw but when we came in the next day one of them had burst open! Mrs Eades' planning was ripped up, some of our papers had been scorched and there was poo on the windowsill... eeeugh!
Oracy Week Job Interviews!
As part of our English unit Arthur and the Golden Rope we had to write application letters for the job of town hero. We then had to prepare for job interviews and practised our Oracy skills. We learned about body language, how to maintain eye contact, how to answer questions and how to be confident even if we weren't feeling it! We then had formal interviews for the job.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
We have been learning all about the Ancient Egyptians and their beliefs about the afterlife. We have studied tomb paintings and what they tell us about everyday life, and the importance of burial items for the afterlife. We have drawn parts of a tomb painting, as well as designing and creating clay cartouches with our names written in hieroglyphics.
It's been a really busy start to the year and we have all settled into the juniors really well. We have been learning all about the Ancient Egyptians and even went 'tomb exploring'!
Books by Michael Foreman
For our first English unit we read different books written and illustrated by Michael Foreman. We then wrote stories based on his book I'll Take You to Mrs Cole. Here are some of our stories.
