Welcome to the Eco Club page.

We are the new Eco Club committee and we are going to make Bentinck more environmentally friendly.

Switch Off Day!

Switch Off day was a great success across the school and every class really thought about how we use electricity and how we can be more careful not to waste it in the future.

Switch Off Day!

We are planning a switch off day because we can save more electricity than we do now! It will be on the 20th of November on a Friday.

Summer 2015

In the summer term we are  working on a display board so people could be interested in Eco club. After the scaffolding is removed we will be soon planting tomatoes and lots of yummy fruits. While we are building the display board our plan is to make a giant plant with the earth as the flower with lots of summery flowers in the back.Next year we will be looking out for people to join because we will only have two people left!!! We are also aiming for a silver award so that means we have to do lots hard work!

Happy New Year!

During the Autumn term we enjoyed another successful 'Switch Off' day and managed a full day without electricity. Saving energy and money!

Due to the weather we have been unable to get as much done outside as we would have liked to. However, as soon as it gets a little warmer we will be back outside ready to weed and plant.

A huge THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who brought in unwanted electrical items to be recycled. We managed to collect an amazing 154 items! Class 5C won the prize for the most items collected by one class - 48 and David March in Class 1 won the digital camera in the raffle.

We had a special assembly for the WEEE project and Iona the iron came along too!

We are very excited to be taking part in the WISE (Waste in School Education) WEEE (Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment) scheme. For a week parents can send in any  small, old electrical or battery powered items. These will be recycled rather than going to landfill. Everyone who brings in an item will get a raffle ticket with the chance to win a digital radio or digital camera, so have a look at home if there's anything you could recycle.

Have a look at the poster and flyer for full details.

Busy Planting!

The outside planters need regular care and attention. Every class has a planter and cares for their plants. We have lots growing at the moment - potatoes, tomatoes, lavender, marigolds and even gladioli.
We bought new recycling bins for every room in school. They look great and we will be monitoring how they are used.
