We had a great time and luckily no one had to walk the plank, arrr!
As part of our Ocean topic we designed and made puppets of ocean creatures. We had to research what the creature looked like and think about how we could turn it into a puppet. We then wrote poems about the sea creatures and performed them as a puppet show for class 1 to watch!
Class 2 learned 'When I grow up' from Matilda the musical. We enjoyed learning the words and some of us even had a go at singing solos, wow!
On the General Election day we voted for an afternoon of either sports, arts or ICT. Sports got the most votes so Class 2 had a really fun afternoon of sports activities. We had a go at javelin throwing, skipping, seeing how long we could hula hoop, how many bounces we could do with a bat and ball and scoring goals with a football!
Class 2 have been researching their topic the Ocean.
Look at our fantastic fact files on Ocean creatures...
We did a class assembly on our topic Homes. We thought about what materials homes can be made of and made models of homes for fairy tale characters. We performed and recorded a song about a busy family and their life at home, it's called 'Our house'...
Class 2 entered the Nottingham in Bloom Art Competition. We all did a painting of Wollaton Hall in the autumn. We had to mix and select the colours we needed to paint all the different shades of leaves, making our paintings look really realistic!
One child in Class 2, Saif, got selected to go through to the next phase of the competition!
For Bentinck Art Week Class 2 made some fantastic animal masks. We did some creative writing to think of our own lyrics for 'Walking through the Jungle' and used instruments and actions to mimic the animal characteristics. Here is our performance of Class 2's version of Walking through the Jungle...
As part of National Science Week we had Cool Pete from Cool Science for Primary Schools visit our school. Cool Pete gave us a demonstration on forces. We looked at magnets, springs, air and how they are used as forces to move objects.
We have been learning about and celebrating Christmas in Class 2. We did a play about the nativity and Santa Claus came to visit us with presents!
Lifecycle came to teach Class 2 how to ride bikes. We had to think about what was good to wear when riding a bike and also how to stay safe when riding a bike. All children had a go on the balance bikes and then some went on to ride on pedal bikes with no stabilisers! Some children even had a go at going around cones and had to concentrate on controlling their bikes carefully. It was great fun!
We have been doing different styles of self portraits in art. We have used photography, pastels, sketch pencils and paint to portray our selves and our personalities. We had to consider the textures, mood and composition of our portraits. We even had a go at taking selfies!
